Laminators come in two main types - hot, or cold. Some machines will do both processes, but choose according to your needs. Cold laminators are safer, faster and easier to use. The end product, however, is often a bit thinner than a typical heat laminate. Hot laminators actually melts the laminating plastic to itself, so it is usually necessary to leave a border, whereas a cold laminator bonds to the item itself, and can be cut borderless. One other nice feature of the cold laminator machines, such as the Xyron, is that the Xyron machine will also make magnets or stickers with various cartridge types!
